Theatre of the Oppressed Project in cooperation
with NASEEJ, Save the Children (USA).
Theatre of the Oppressed is an experimental
form of theatre that aims at imparting theatre based methodologies
to youth and kids, as a means of self expression and self development.
Not only does the project enable a body of inspired youth to think
creatively, but it also provides profound fodder for empowerment
and intellectual growth.
The theatre serves as a platform for holding a number of workshops,
namely drama, music, drawing, creative writing, story telling,
photography and graphic design, that will enable youth to produce
their own play, hence giving us the chance to see through the
youth's eyes what they see and experience in their daily lives.
Moreover, the youth experience team work and learn that together
they can be more productive. Although they are characterized by
simplicity, these plays help in bringing awareness to the community
at large which is the first step towards solving a given problem.
"Encouraging Youth participation in the
community" in cooperation with Coptic Evangelic Organisation for
Social Services (CEOSS).
This project offers youth a series of
workshops that relay certain messages and embed a sense of responsibility
and tolerance. A curriculum is devised that uses non formal methods
to encourage youth to explore themselves and their surroundings
in the hope of becoming proactive members of their community.
It is worth mentioning that Nahdet El Mahrousa NGO has implemented
a similar project entitled 'Misriyati' and was quite successful.
A&A is basing its project on the curriculum devised by NM.
ME Book in cooperation with the Institute
of Cultural Affairs (ICA)
ME Book, is a book that takes the
children on a journey of self discovery. A journey during which
children think about themselves and their living environment.
The book becomes their best friend as page after page they learn
more about themselves and explore new options. One of the objectives
of this project is for the children to set goals and that gives
them a sense of purpose.
